Acne

Acne is very common in teenagers it comes about when they begin to produce additional hormones which create an imbalance in the skin. Teen acne is part-genetic, part-hormonal and primarily related to increased oil production. Teenage acne breakouts usually appear on their face, neck and chest.  Teenager’s skin tends to recover quickly, and with time they generally outgrow acne.

Adult acne tends to be deeper, more painful and more cyclical. The reasons are more difficult to assess, but it usually the result of a stress imbalance.  Adult acne is usually caused by stress or hormonal fluctuations, caused by climate, pregnancy, diets, cosmetics, etc. An imbalance in skin hormones can result in the overproduction of sebum, which can cause an inflammation of the skin. In some cases an open comedo (a clogged hair follicle (pore) in the skin) is formed, in other cases, the hair follicles rupture inwards and acne abscesses, may occur. Adult acne is usually found around the mouth, jaw and chin. It often takes longer to heal than teen acne because cell turnover slows with age.

How Do I Treat Acne?

You cannot cure acne, but you can keep acne under control. Look for products that contain ingredients like:
